Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Jan 22 (NationPress) Actress Shriya Pilgaonkar experienced a wave of nostalgia as she joined the 2016 throwback trend, reflecting on a year she describes as a “bold move” that marked her entrance into Hindi cinema with the Shah Rukh Khan-led film ‘Fan’.
On her Instagram, Shriya fondly remembered 2016 as a pivotal year for her Hindi film debut alongside Shah Rukh Khan in “Fan”, a significant milestone that opened new avenues of dreams. She also recounted cherished moments such as taking her beloved Ajoba on a Mediterranean cruise and engaging in theatre work.
She shared a series of photos featuring herself with Shah Rukh Khan, Harshvardhan Rane, Ishaan Khatter, and the late Dharmendra with her father, Sachin Pilgaonkar, among many others.
In her caption, she expressed: “#2016 Jumping onto the 2016 throwback bandwagon. Instagram feels like a digital scrapbook.”
She further added: “Stumbled upon some special memories...the year of my Hindi film debut with Fan, taking my Ajoba on a Mediterranean cruise, immersing myself in theatre, and quietly mustering the courage to take a leap of faith as dreams began to materialize. A seeker then, and a seeker still.”
Fan, an action thriller helmed by Maneesh Sharma, features Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role as Aryan Khanna, a film star, and his obsessive fan and lookalike, Gaurav Chandna.
After Gaurav beats up a rival actor to win Aryan's favor, he faces punishment from his idol; heartbroken, the fan plots his revenge.
The film also boasts a strong ensemble cast including Waluscha De Sousa, Sayani Gupta, Yogendra Tikku, Taher Shabbir, Parveen Kaur, and Indraneel Bhattacharya.
Shriya is set to appear next in Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan. This film commenced production in August this year and marks the reunion of Bollywood icons Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after an 18-year gap. The duo's last collaboration was in Tashan, which was met with commercial and critical failure.
Meanwhile, Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar are also collaborating on a project titled ‘Bhoot Bangla’. This horror drama is anticipated to hit theaters towards the end of 2025 and signifies the return of one of Hindi cinema's most commercially successful actor-director partnerships.
Reflecting on her journey, Shriya made her acting debut with the Marathi film Ekulti Ek in 2013, earning the Maharashtra State Film Award for Best Debut.
Following her notable Hindi film debut with Fan, she successfully established herself in web series such as Mirzapur, Guilty Minds, The Broken News, and Taaza Khabar, as well as Ishq-e-Nadaan.
