Significant Advancement in Bilateral Relations, Says EAM Jaishankar as Moldova Establishes Embassy in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar described the establishment of the Moldovan Embassy in New Delhi as an important step forward that will open new possibilities of our partnership.

On X, EAM Jaishankar expressed his delight, stating: "Thrilled to inaugurate the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in New Delhi together with DPM & FM @MihaiPopsoi. An important step forward in India-Moldova relations that will unveil new avenues for collaboration. We had fruitful discussions with DPM & FM @MihaiPopsoi today in New Delhi.

"We addressed our expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation along with new opportunities in investment, education, technology, and culture. The signing of the declaration of intent regarding a Migration and Mobility partnership today will pave the way for enhanced collaboration.

Earlier, during the joint inauguration ceremony of the Embassy, EAM Jaishankar stated: "It is a privilege to be among you today as we commemorate a vital milestone in the relations between the Republic of India and the Republic of Moldova—the official inauguration of the Moldovan Embassy in New Delhi.

This moment signifies our nations' collective commitment, particularly since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. A notable aspect of our journey is our steadfast support for one another on the global stage, in multilateral organizations, and in tackling international issues such as climate change and sustainable development.

EAM Jaishankar further noted that Moldova provided essential assistance during Operation Ganga to evacuate stranded Indian nationals amid the Ukraine crisis.

"This act will always be remembered in India," he remarked.

The External Affairs Minister elaborated: "As we consider a deeper involvement with Europe, it is only natural to emphasize various bilateral relationships. Our countries have experienced a surge in engagement across trade, education, technology, and cultural exchanges.

"Moldova's enthusiastic embrace of Indian yoga traditions, the Hindi language, and Indian culture exemplifies our close people-to-people connections. Moldova serves as a second home for over 2,000 Indian students, who embody the essence of our partnership by bridging cultures and building enduring friendships.

EAM Jaishankar acknowledged that India has fostered dynamic relationships with European nations in various sectors, including trade, technology, tourism, education, energy, healthcare, and culture, all grounded in mutual respect and shared values.

"Moldova plays a crucial role in this; we are also development partners. Establishing a Moldovan presence in India’s bustling capital marks a practical step towards enhancing our diplomatic relations and fostering collaboration in critical areas of mutual interest. This initiative reflects our shared vision of a world that cherishes peace, understanding, and cooperation. We anticipate that this new chapter will further enrich partnerships in these domains.

"As we rejoice in this inauguration, let us reaffirm our dedication to a future founded on mutual respect and shared objectives. May this embassy serve as a beacon of friendship. Let’s celebrate our common aspirations and a pledge to a future of deeper collaboration. I also look forward to the establishment of an Indian Mission in Moldova in the upcoming years, which will further solidify our growing partnership," EAM Jaishankar concluded.

The External Affairs Minister wrapped up his address by extending warm congratulations to the people and government of Moldova, as well as the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and the first resident Moldovan Ambassador in New Delhi.
