Tirupati, Nov 12 (NationPress) The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Andhra Pradesh has persistently continued its inquiries with former police officials and TTD representatives concerning the Parakamani theft case at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala.

Jaganmohan Reddy, who held the position of Circle Inspector (CI) at the Tirumala One Town Police Station when the case was initiated in 2023, attended the CID-led SIT for a second interrogation on Wednesday.

Several officials from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), the body managing the operations of this wealthy Hindu temple, also appeared before the SIT, which is overseen by CID Director General Ravi Shankar Ayyanar.

On Monday, the CID interrogated former CI Jaganmohan Reddy, Sub-Inspector Lakshmi Reddy, and the previous TTD vigilance officer Giridhar. Earlier, former Two Town CI Chandra Sekhar was also questioned.

The CID is investigating the involvement of police officials in the alleged compromise between the accused C.V. Ravi Kumar and the complainant Satish Kumar.

The SIT is also scrutinizing unrecorded assets related to the accused and potential political interference to resolve the case.

Last month, the SIT visited the Parakamani (the counting center for coins and currency notes) at the renowned hill shrine and confiscated documents relevant to the case filed at the Tirumala One Town Police Station.

The investigation was initiated following a reprimand from the Andhra Pradesh High Court directed at the police department and the DGP for failing to execute its directives concerning the petition that contested the closure of the Parakamani theft case in the Lok Adalat.

Ravi Kumar, a TTD employee, was apprehended while attempting to steal 920 dollars from Parakamani in April 2023.

The theft case, initially reported at the Tirumala police station, was transferred to the Lok Adalat, where a compromise settlement was reached in September 2023 after Ravi Kumar agreed to donate seven properties valued at Rs 40 crore, all located in Tirupati and Chennai, under the name of TTD.

Recently, a petition was submitted to the Andhra Pradesh High Court claiming that an investigation into the theft case was never conducted. The prior governing board of TTD had closed the case following a settlement in the Lok Adalat, which the petitioner contested.

In September, the High Court instructed the Inspector General of CID to seize all relevant documentation regarding the case, the proceedings in front of the Lok Adalat, and any drafts from the TTD board, if applicable, and present them in a sealed envelope.

Simultaneously, two members of the TTD Trust Board released a video allegedly related to the theft case.

TTD board member and BJP State spokesperson G. Bhanuprakash Reddy and TTD Ex Officio member C. Divakar Reddy shared CCTV footage captured by surveillance cameras positioned at Parakamani.

Ravi Kumar reportedly stole currency notes by hiding them in his undergarments on April 29, 2023.

The TTD Board members claimed that he was caught while attempting to steal 11,300 dollars, but the FIR documented the recovery of only 900 dollars.

They also accused the suspect of accumulating properties worth Rs 100 crore through repeated theft of foreign currency notes.
