Gurugram, April 7 (NationPress) A 28-year-old software developer tragically lost her life in a road mishap when her rented BMW sports bike was struck by a Hyundai Verna car in Gurugram, according to police reports.

The victim has been identified as Somita Singh, originally from Lucknow. She was returning home to Noida with her bike-riding group after a day out in Gurugram’s Leopard Trail area when a speeding Verna collided with her bike, causing severe injuries.

Despite the bike sustaining minimal damage, the police were alerted to the incident, and Somita was transported to a government hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead after examination.

A team from the Badshahpur police station conducted an investigation at the accident site, informed Somita's family, and sent her body for a postmortem examination.

The victim's father, Mahendra Pal, arrived in Gurugram on Monday morning to claim her body following the autopsy.

Based on his report, authorities registered a case against the bike riding group at the Badshahpur police station.

Somita had been employed in Noida for approximately eight months. Some colleagues participated in rides with the ‘Let’s Ride India Group’, which she had recently joined.

Additionally, Somita was taking sports bike training without informing her family.

The Let’s Ride Group provides training for women in sports biking and also offers bike rentals.

The bike involved in the accident was rented from this group. She arrived in Gurugram with a group of female riders from Sector 135 of Noida, which included 20 to 25 participants.

Police noted that Somita became part of the bike riding group only a few days prior, frequently going out with friends on weekends.

Investigating officer Naveen Kumar from Badshahpur police station reported that they were informed of a woman’s accident leading to her death at Sector-10 Civil Hospital.

Upon receiving the notification, he quickly arrived at the hospital, and Somita's body was taken to the mortuary in a private ambulance.

“The victim was riding a red G310-BMW (DL3SEM-4946) sports bike. She had visited Leopard Cafe in Gurugram on Saturday evening with her riding group from Noida. During this time, she was involved in an accident with a Verna car (HR26EX-2514) on Leopard Trail Road. The girl sustained significant injuries in this incident and later succumbed to them at the hospital,” Kumar stated.

He confirmed that a case has been registered in connection with this incident.

“We will be interviewing the bike-riding group soon to determine the precise cause of the accident and to pursue the negligent car driver,” he added.
