The clash erupted last Sunday on Kakulia Road in the Golpark area, which falls under the Rabindra Sarobar police station's jurisdiction. Following the incident, the names of Sona Pappu and his associates frequently surfaced. Local residents have accused his gang of instigating the conflict.
As a result of the incident, three FIRs have been filed at the Rabindra Sarobar police station, including one suo motu case regarding an attack on a police vehicle.
According to eyewitnesses and police reports, the trouble began around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday during a club picnic at Panchanantala near Golpark. The disturbance reportedly involved a clash between local businessmen led by Bapi Halder and Sona Pappu's gang. Bapi, a local entrepreneur, is alleged to be targeted by Sona Pappu's group, which is purportedly attempting to assert control over the area.
Eyewitnesses claim that approximately 100-150 masked assailants launched an attack, with reports of gunfire and the use of crude bombs. Sharp instruments were also reportedly utilized in the assault. Police vehicles and motorcycles belonging to local residents were damaged, and bricks were thrown during the altercation. Later that evening, law enforcement discovered bullet casings and bomb remnants on the street.
