Bareilly, Jan 14 (NationPress) The Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) has once again showcased their supremacy in Indian boxing by successfully defending their title at the Elite Men’s National Boxing Championship with an impressive performance in the finals.

SSCB athletes excelled, highlighted by remarkable wins from Sachin Siwach in the lightweight (55-60 kg) category and Lakshya Chahar in the light heavyweight (75-80 kg) division, marking the team's third consecutive championship victory.

In addition, Abhinash Jamwal concluded his remarkable tournament journey by winning a gold medal in the welterweight (60-65 kg) category. Jamwal, who had previously triumphed over reigning champion Shiva Thapa and former Youth World Champion Vanshaj Kumar, outperformed Amit in the final to claim his title.

The finals were attended by esteemed guests, including Ajay Singh, the president of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), and Neeraj Singh, the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Boxing Association. Special attendees included Olympian Vijender Singh, World Champion and Arjuna Awardee Saweety Boora, and Bareilly’s Mayor Umesh Gautam.

In the bantamweight (50-55 kg) category, Manish Rathore defeated SSCB’s Pawan Bartwal to seize gold, while in the welterweight (70-75 kg) division, Nikhil Dubey triumphed over Deepak in a thrilling match. The cruiserweight (80-85 kg) category witnessed Sumit overcoming SSCB’s Jugnoo, while Narender clinched the Super Heavyweight (90-90+ kg) gold with a victory against Haryana’s Anshul Gill.

SSCB concluded the tournament with an impressive tally of five gold, three silver, and one bronze medal, reinforcing their dominance. Among the gold medalists were Jadumani Singh in the flyweight (47-50 kg) category, Hitesh in the light middleweight (65-70 kg) division, and Vishal in the heavyweight (85-90 kg) class, all delivering outstanding performances in their respective finals to secure top podium positions.

Commenting on the event's success, the BFI president stated, “Congratulations to all the winners and to Team Services for claiming the team trophy. The tournament showcased fierce competition throughout, with exceptional talent displayed from both seasoned boxers and promising young athletes. These championships are crucial for identifying and developing talent, preparing them for success on the global stage. Singh reiterated his commitment to assisting both active and retired athletes by announcing a significant initiative to offer employment opportunities at SpiceJet Ltd for 15 retired boxers per state, contingent upon their qualifications.

To facilitate this effort, the BFI will establish a dedicated committee led by the president to oversee and implement the process. Furthermore, the newly introduced selection policy has created multiple pathways for entry into the national camp, including the REC Open, COAS Cup/National Level tournaments, and the Federation Cup.
