Will Stalin Announce the Nationalisation of Literary Works by Eminent Tamil Scholars Today?

Chennai, May 5 (NationPress) In a significant move, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is set to declare the nationalisation of the literary contributions of five distinguished Tamil scholars: Rao Saheb G. Kothandapani Pillai, Dr R. Mohan, G. Muthupillai, M.S. Sambandam, and Hamsaveni. This initiative aims to safeguard and promote Tamil intellectual heritage, representing a crucial step towards making these scholars' contributions widely accessible.

The government will also transfer the royalty rights for these works to the families of the respective scholars as part of this initiative.

Stalin emphasized, "This nationalisation transcends mere administrative measures; it is a cultural necessity," and added, "By ensuring these remarkable works are accessible to everyone, we are celebrating the richness of Tamil literature and paying homage to the lifelong endeavors of these scholars."

The announcement will occur at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai, with Ministers M.P. Saminathan, Ma. Subramanian, and P.K. Sekarbabu, among other dignitaries, in attendance.

Additionally, the Chief Minister will partake in the concluding ceremony of 'Tamil Week', which is celebrated annually to honor the birth anniversary of the revered Tamil poet Pavendhar Bharathidasan. The event will feature the presentation of awards to winners of various literary competitions conducted throughout Tamil Nadu during the week.

Stalin remarked, "Bharathidasan's vision and voice continue to motivate generations," asserting that, "Our government is devoted to nurturing a vibrant literary culture that upholds Tamil pride and progress."

Since April 29, an array of literary events and discussions has taken place at district headquarters, attracting widespread participation from scholars, students, and literary enthusiasts.

These celebrations coincide with the DMK government’s preparation to enter its fifth year in office.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the government highlighted its notable achievements over the past four years, referencing initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme and Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam, which have garnered national and international acclaim, including recognition from the United Nations.

Health Minister Ma. Subramanian commented, "Tamil Nadu has emerged as a benchmark for social welfare and healthcare in India. This acknowledgment reflects visionary leadership and unwavering execution."

The statement also revisited the state government’s adept management of crises such as the Covid-19 pandemic, cyclones, and floods. "In spite of the Union government’s indifference during critical times, we proactively safeguarded our people," it stated.

The government noted that its efforts have earned appreciation from a diverse array of constituents -- including women, students, workers, entrepreneurs, and the media -- and have even received accolades from the Centre.
