Sudan and Egypt Commit to Strengthening Relations

Khartoum, Dec 4 (NationPress) Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan engaged with the visiting Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to focus on strengthening bilateral relations.
Ali Yousif Ahmed, Sudanese Foreign Minister, shared with reporters after the meeting in Port Sudan, located in eastern Sudan, that the visit of the Egyptian foreign minister and his delegation signifies the robust and evolving ties between the two brotherly nations.
The timing of this visit is particularly significant amid the ongoing Sudanese civil conflict and efforts to bring peace for the benefit of the Sudanese people, as reported by Xinhua news agency, citing the Sudanese minister.
During his visit, Abdelatty emphasized that he was there to fulfill the directives of President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, delivering a message of Egypt's unwavering support for Sudan.
He reaffirmed the solidarity of the Egyptian people with their Sudanese counterparts, stating, 'The leaderships in both nations are united in their determination to enhance consultations on all matters of mutual interest, particularly concerning coordination in regional and international forums.'
He expressed Egypt's hope that Sudan could regain its membership and active role in the African Union.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been embroiled in a catastrophic conflict between the SAF and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, resulting in over 27,120 fatalities.
