Shaik Riyaz, who was hospitalized at the Government General Hospital in Nizamabad, reportedly seized a firearm from the officers assigned to guard him and attempted to escape.
The Director General of Police, B. Shivadhar Reddy, stated that according to local police reports, Riyaz attempted to flee by assaulting the police again. He had taken a weapon from the officers and attempted to fire at them, resulting in his death during the police’s efforts to subdue him, he remarked in a statement.
The DGP mentioned that Riyaz had attacked a civilian named Asif on Sunday, who was assisting the police in his arrest, leaving Asif severely injured. Asif is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Hyderabad.
