Did Swami Avimukteshwaranand Dismiss Child Sexual Abuse Allegations as False?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Varanasi, Feb 21 (NationPress) Swami Avimukteshwaranand stated on Saturday that the FIR issued against him in a child sexual abuse case will ultimately reveal what he referred to as a "false matter". He expressed his complete trust in the judicial system, asserting that the truth will be uncovered during the investigation.
In a conversation with reporters, Swami Avimukteshwaranand emphasized that the legal proceedings would eventually bring the facts to light.
"Initiating a case is appropriate because once registered, it allows for further investigation and evidence collection, thereby illuminating the truth behind the baseless accusations against us," he remarked.
The seer also raised doubts about the complainant's credibility, alleging that the individual making the accusations has a criminal history.
"The person who has made these allegations is a known offender. His record substantiates this claim," Swami Avimukteshwaranand stated, asserting that the individual’s main activity involves filing false cases against others for financial gain.
He further alleged that the complainant falsely presented himself as a disciple of Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya.
Additionally, he claimed that there are efforts to suppress voices advocating for cow protection.
"We have unwavering faith in the judiciary. Unlike Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, we do not seek to have cases against us dismissed. We will continue to express our views without fear," he said, reiterating his belief that justice will prevail.
In the meantime, his disciple, Swami Mukundanand Giri, also dismissed the allegations, labeling them as a conspiracy aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the Shankaracharya tradition.
"This is a legal matter. We merely wish for the court to hear our side and consider the accurate facts promptly," he added.
Previously, Special POCSO Judge Vinod Kumar Chaurasia instructed the Jhunsi Police Station in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj to register an FIR based on a complaint by Ashutosh Brahmachari.
The court mandated a further investigation following a review of a preliminary inquiry report provided by Prayagraj Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar.
The case involves charges of sexual abuse of minors under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
