Polling is slated for November 11, and the counting of votes will take place on November 14.
This bye-election was triggered by the passing of AAP MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal, who had secured victory with 52,935 votes, defeating SAD's Harmeet Singh Sandhu.

Nomination papers can be submitted to the Returning Officer between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on any working day (excluding public holidays) from October 13 to 21.
All candidates must be registered voters in any constituency within the state and must provide a certified copy of their electoral roll entry.
Furthermore, each candidate is required to take an oath or affirmation before the Returning Officer or an authorized officer from the Election Commission after filing their nomination and prior to the scrutiny date.
It's important to note that October 18 is not a holiday according to the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, and nominations can be submitted on that date, while October 19 and October 20 are holidays, prohibiting submissions.
The AAP government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has nominated turncoat Harmeet Sandhu, whereas the primary opposition, Congress, has presented grassroots leader Karanbir Singh Burj.
The SAD, led by president Sukhbir Singh Badal, has nominated Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, and the BJP has selected Harjit Singh Sandhu as its candidate.
The Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De), headed by imprisoned Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, who has significant support in this constituency, has yet to announce its candidate.
BJP representatives expressed optimism about their electoral chances, asserting that the party has gained strength over the years and anticipates strong performance from their candidate Sandhu.
Conversely, Congress candidate Burj is an agriculturist and realtor, serving as the Vice-President of the district Congress and previously involved with the party's Kisan Cell.
He is reportedly a close associate of the Opposition Leader, Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa.
