Tarn Taran (Punjab), Oct 15 (NationPress) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa officially submitted her nomination papers for the upcoming Tarn Taran by-election, scheduled for November 11. She confidently claimed that only the regional party stands a chance of winning this by-poll.

Prior to the submission, a vibrant roadshow took place, spearheaded by Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal, featuring a procession of hundreds of vehicles traversing various villages and city streets.

In a media interaction, Badal expressed gratitude to the electorate for their support towards Sukhwinder Kaur, who hails from a Dharmi Fauji family. He noted that the overwhelming affection for both the candidate and the Akali Dal was evident, indicating that the community has already decided to secure the party's victory.

“I am assured that the voters of Tarn Taran will honor the legacy of the Dharmi Fauji family and ensure that their singular regional party prevails, while decisively rejecting turncoats and parties based out of Delhi,” Badal stated.

He further elaborated on the public's desire to see an end to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which he criticized for neglecting all segments of society and failing to deliver any substantial development in the state.

“People are also reminded of how they were overlooked during the previous Congress administration, as they recall the significant development and exceptional social welfare initiatives introduced by the former SAD government,” he added.

Notable leaders present during this event included Balwinder Singh Bhunder, Gulzar Singh Ranike, Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Sikander Singh Maluka, Hira Singh Gabria, N.K. Sharma, and Alwinderpal Singh Pakhoke.

On the same day, three candidates submitted their nomination papers, marking the third day of the nomination period. A spokesperson for the Chief Electoral Officer revealed that Karambir Singh, the Congress candidate, also filed his papers.

Additionally, Sukhwinder Kaur from the Shiromani Akali Dal and Kanchanpreet Kaur (covering candidate) completed their nominations. The deadline for submitting nomination papers is October 21, with a scrutiny date set for October 22. The final date for withdrawal of nominations is October 24.
