New Delhi, Sep 5 (NationPress) On Teachers’ Day, President Droupadi Murmu honored 45 remarkable educators with the National Teacher Awards during a special event at Vigyan Bhawan in the capital. Educators from Daman (Daman and Diu), Haryana, Delhi, and Jammu and Kashmir celebrated this accolade, describing it as a lifetime achievement, and expressed their heartfelt thanks to the government for acknowledging their commitment and efforts.
In interviews with IANS, several recipients shared their thoughts. Bhavinniben Dineshbhai Desai from Daman expressed, “I am grateful to the government and the Ministry of Education for this recognition. I have dedicated myself to lowering dropout rates and ensuring students complete their education at least until Class 8. My focus has been on providing essential facilities, including education on good and bad touch, sex education, and technology use. It’s gratifying to see our hard work recognized.”
Sunita from Haryana remarked, “Being honored in this manner is a significant moment for any teacher. Receiving an award from the President is a true lifetime achievement. I appreciate the government for acknowledging my contributions, particularly in fostering holistic development among students.”
Kuldeep Gupta from J&K stated, “This award brings me immense pride. It was a dream come true, and I have laboriously worked towards it. We prioritize holistic development and joyful learning, employing diverse experimental teaching techniques to engage students. I sincerely thank the government for this recognition.”
Awadesh Jha from Delhi added, “I am incredibly pleased to receive this award. We have conducted 1,650 activities in our school, including establishing a ‘Deshbhakti’ park and a dedicated reading room. Our students are excelling, and we also received over Rs 1 crore in funding from Alakh Pandey, founder of Physics Wallah, for school improvements. It is an honor to be recognized in this way.”
Earlier, President Murmu celebrated the achievements of 45 outstanding educators, presenting national awards at a ceremony in New Delhi.
She commended the teachers for transforming classrooms and preparing children to become responsible citizens of the future.
During her address, the President highlighted the critical role of education and emphasized the need for investment in girls’ education, asserting that this is a vital step toward strengthening families, communities, and the nation.
Importantly, the awardees, comprising 24 males and 21 females from urban and rural schools, were selected through a comprehensive three-stage process for their innovation and impact on student learning.
