Surajpur (Chhattisgarh), Jan 19 (NationPress) An uplifting and heartwarming event unfolded in Surajpur as Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai paid a visit to the residence of a beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). This visit occurred during the Chief Minister's two-day tour of the district, where the positive impact of the government's housing initiatives at the grassroots level was evident.
During his visit, CM Sai toured the newly built home of Kalicharan, a villager from Manpur who successfully constructed his permanent residence with the help of financial support from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Impressed by the construction quality and design, CM Sai commended Kalicharan, expressing joy at seeing how beneficiaries effectively combine government assistance with their personal efforts to create dignified living spaces.
In a heartwarming interaction, the Chief Minister engaged warmly with Kalicharan's family. An emotional moment arose when Kalicharan’s young daughter, who initially missed her chance to meet CM Sai, became tearful. Upon finally meeting him, the atmosphere shifted to one of happiness.
CM Sai remarked that such experiences epitomize the genuine success of government schemes. He expressed, "Witnessing the realization of our government's vision brings me immense joy."
During his address, the Chief Minister shared significant statistics regarding the housing scheme, indicating that out of 18 lakh houses sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, nearly 8 lakh families have already received their completed homes and celebrated their griha pravesh.
He also mentioned that surrendered Naxalites are receiving an extra Rs 15,000 for housing aid, and under the PM Janman Yojana, an additional 32,000 houses are set to be constructed. "Our government is tirelessly working to ensure that every eligible family secures a permanent dwelling," said CM Sai.
Expressing profound gratitude towards the Chief Minister and the government, Kalicharan and his family recounted their previous struggles, noting how their old kutcha house with a tiled roof would leak during rainy weather, causing them significant distress. "Now, we live peacefully in a pucca house. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Chief Minister and the government," they stated.
