Tejashwi Calls for Action Against Grand Alliance's Rebel MLAs

Patna, Nov 28 (NationPress) RJD leaders, with Tejashwi Yadav at the forefront, voiced their demands for action against MLAs exhibiting disloyalty to the party on Thursday.

During the floor test of the Nitish Kumar government in February earlier this year, three RJD MLAs—Chetan Anand, Neelam Devi, and Prahalad Yadav—engaged in cross-voting, thereby aiding the NDA government.

Since that time, these three rebel MLAs have reportedly been siding with the ruling party in Bihar, despite their affiliation with the Opposition.

Since February, the trio of rebel MLAs has been occupying seats designated for ruling party ministers during Assembly sessions.

Tejashwi Yadav asserted on Thursday that, in accordance with legislative protocols, these MLAs remain officially part of the Opposition and ought to occupy their designated party benches.

Yadav underscored the necessity of adhering to rules and regulations within the legislative Assembly to preserve order and uphold the principles of parliamentary democracy.

“Even after our formal communication to the Speaker prior to the session, no action has been taken against the rebel MLAs violating party lines by sitting with or aligning themselves with the ruling coalition,” Yadav stated.

“We demand their expulsion in accordance with anti-defection laws, as they are breaching legislative norms,” he added.

Yadav expressed concern over the insufficient enforcement of seating protocols, pivotal for maintaining order and discipline within the Assembly.

To emphasize their stance, Opposition MLAs intentionally occupied seats on the ruling party's side as a symbolic protest, aiming to “open the eyes” of the government and draw attention to the ongoing neglect of rules by the rebel MLAs and the Speaker's silence on the matter.

Opposition MLAs, in their protest, sat among the ruling party members, causing disruption in proceedings.

RJD MLA Bhai Birendra intensified the situation by approaching the Chief Minister’s chair, adding to the political spectacle.

Tejashwi Yadav attributed the disorder to the persistent defiance of regulations by the rebel MLAs, accusing them of undermining the decorum of the House and criticized the Speaker for his lack of action.

This incident reflects the Opposition's frustration and their belief that the government, in collusion with the Speaker, is disregarding established legislative norms.

Tejashwi Yadav claimed that the government is behaving as if it is “above the rules,” indicating a collapse of accountability and fairness in legislative proceedings.
