Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 17 (NationPress) On the 38th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) National Working President Tejashwi Prasad Yadav emphasized the need to promote Karpoori Thakur's principles and aspirations from Bihar to Delhi, ensuring they reach every household across the nation.
Speaking to a vast audience of party leaders and supporters at Patna’s Bapu Auditorium, Tejashwi Yadav stated that the RJD is committed to continuing the legacy of Karpoori Thakur and Lalu Prasad Yadav by enhancing social justice, secularism, and advocating for the underprivileged.
He accused the current ruling forces of spreading hatred in both Bihar and at the national level, alleging they are undermining the constitutional and secular fabric of India.
In reference to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s imprisonment, Tejashwi described it as a conspiracy, asserting that Lalu Prasad has never yielded to divisive elements.
“Like him, I too will resist those who seek to weaken our Constitution by fostering an atmosphere of animosity,” he declared.
Tejashwi Yadav noted that the voices of public representatives are being ignored in Bihar, asserting that corruption has infiltrated governance.
He pointed out the escalating incidents of rape and crime, dubbing the current state as “Mahajungle Raj.”
He further raised concerns about the misuse of institutions like the ED, CBI, and Election Commission, claiming that in the previous Bihar elections, it was not the electorate who triumphed, but the system itself.
Tejashwi remarked that the expensive nature of elections has made it increasingly difficult for the impoverished to participate, transforming democracy into a money-centric affair.
He portrayed the RJD as a party that remains trusted by the masses and urged party activists to unite and fortify the organization through struggle and widespread movements, not only in Bihar but on a national scale.
Emphasizing the importance of advancing the ideas of Ram Manohar Lohia, Karpoori Thakur, Jagdev Prasad, and Jayaprakash Narayan, Tejashwi shared personal anecdotes, mentioning that he never met Karpoori Thakur in person, but his parents' stories inspired him profoundly.
He recalled his mother often speaking of how Karpoori Thakur was devoted to the poor and led a life of simplicity, passing away in his father's lap.
Concluding his address, Tejashwi Yadav encouraged party members to raise their hands and pledge to carry forward Karpoori Thakur's ideals and aspirations to Delhi, which was met with the chant “Karpoori Thakur Amar Rahe.”
Numerous prominent RJD leaders were in attendance, including State President Mangani Lal Mandal, National Vice President Uday Narayan Chaudhary, National General Secretary Abdul Bari Siddiqui, former Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Ramchandra Purve, former Assembly Speaker Avadh Bihari Chaudhary, former Union Minister Kanti Singh, Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav, Ali Ashraf Fatmi, RJD MP Abhay Kumar Kushwaha, and Surendra Yadav.
