Born to Maturi Appa Rao, a Commercial Tax Officer, and Nagaratnam, Justice Priyadarsini married Dr. K. Vijay Kumar shortly after completing her Intermediate studies, and she was a proud mother to two sons, Nikhil and Akhil.
Her academic achievements were remarkable; she earned a Master of Arts in Sociology, a Master of Arts in Public Administration, and a Master of Arts in Political Science from Andhra University.
