Hyderabad, Jan 30 (NationPress) The Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, along with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, commemorated the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his death anniversary this Friday. They placed floral tributes at Bapu Ghat located at Langer Houz, where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed at the meeting point of the Musi and Esi rivers.
Among those honoring Gandhi were Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud, senior Congress figure and former MP V. Hanumanth Rao, along with several other Congress leaders.
The group paid respects at the memorial and later showered petals over the statue of the Father of the Nation. They also took part in an all-religion prayer meeting.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, currently visiting the United States, expressed his tributes to Mahatma Gandhi via 'X', describing Bapu as a remarkable soul who opened a new avenue of struggle for the world.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K.T. Rama Rao also honored Mahatma Gandhi.
“Mahatma Gandhi demonstrated the strength of truth and non-violence. On this significant occasion, let us reflect on his principles of honesty, bravery, and compassion. His teachings are timeless and remain relevant today. Let us endeavor to follow his path and create a society founded on harmony,” Rama Rao wrote on 'X'.
“As we celebrate his legacy, let us renew our dedication to his enduring values of non-violence, truth, compassion, and patriotism,” stated K. Kavitha, President of Telangana Jagruthi.
Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi.
The Governor remarked that Gandhi Ji's life and ultimate sacrifice are everlasting symbols of truth, non-violence, and selfless service to the nation. His principles continue to guide humanity globally and steer India towards peace, unity, and moral strength.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu noted that through non-violence, Mahatma Gandhi unified millions of countrymen, leading to the nation’s independence. “We should all practice the tenets taught by Gandhi Ji — Truth, Non-violence, Peace, and Service. With utmost sincerity and purity of heart, let us work collectively to achieve Gandhi Ji’s cherished ideals of Swadeshi, women’s empowerment, Gram Swaraj (village self-rule), and poverty eradication,” Naidu posted on 'X'.
Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also honored Bapu, reflecting on Mahatma Gandhi’s unwavering commitment to truth and moral bravery.
Y.S. Jagan emphasized that while truth may seem to falter temporarily, it is never defeated, and described Mahatma Gandhi as a great soul who devoted his life to truth until his final moments.
