Hyderabad, Oct 2 (NationPress) The Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, along with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, commemorated the birth anniversary of the nation's father, Mahatma Gandhi, by paying their respects at Bapu Ghat in Hyderabad.
They laid floral tributes at Bapu Ghat in Langer Houz, the site where Mahatma Gandhi's ashes were immersed at the meeting point of the Musi and Esi rivers.
The Governor and the Chief Minister honored Gandhi at his Samadhi, showering flower petals on the statue of the father of the nation.
Other dignitaries present included Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Mahesh Kumar Goud, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, and other high-ranking officials who also paid their respects to Gandhi.
Members of the Legislative Assembly, Councilors, government advisors, and numerous leaders participated in the solemn event.
The gathering included an interfaith prayer meeting held in a hall adorned with a 76-foot long collage wall featuring over 400 images of the father of the nation.
The Chief Minister expressed his homage to Mahatma Gandhi on 'X', portraying him as a beacon of truth, non-violence, and tolerance.
On this significant day, he also honored former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna recipient Lal Bahadur Shastri, recalling his rallying cry 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' that inspired the nation.
K. T. Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), also paid tribute to Gandhi, emphasizing that Gandhi’s philosophy of truth and non-violence serves as a guiding light in the ongoing struggle for Telangana.
“These very ideals fueled our fight for Telangana. May his principles light our path towards progress. Remembering the Father of the Nation on his birth anniversary,” declared Rama Rao.
