Hyderabad, Jan 30 (NationPress) The Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, along with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and several Cabinet members, gathered on Thursday to honor Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary.

They laid floral tributes at Bapu Ghat located in Langer Houz, where the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed at the meeting point of the Musi and Esi rivers.

The Governor and the Chief Minister expressed their respects at the samadhi and subsequently showered petals on the statue of the Father of the Nation.

Both officials participated in an interfaith prayer gathering held in honor of the occasion.

Among those present were Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, P. Srinivasa Reddy, T. Nageswara Rao, and Konda Surekha, along with Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, Director General of Police Dr Jitender, Chief Minister’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy, and government advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir.

While paying homage, Chief Minister Reddy remarked that Mahatma Gandhi imparted the lesson of satyagraha to mankind and spearheaded the peaceful fight for Independence.

In a related tribute, Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer also honored the Father of the Nation on Martyrs' Day.

“This day commemorates the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, whose leadership and commitment to non-violence were crucial in India’s quest for freedom. His teachings remain a source of inspiration for generations striving to create a fair and just world,” he stated.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi on this significant day, asserting that the Father of the Nation regarded non-violence as the supreme virtue and that his lessons are still applicable today.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan likewise expressed his homage. “On Martyrs' Day, I extend my heartfelt tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. His ideals of truth and non-violence were instrumental in leading India to independence and continue to motivate us. Following his principles, I reaffirm our government's dedication to realizing the vision of Gram Swaraj in Andhra Pradesh,” he shared on X.
