New Delhi, Jan 30 (NationPress) On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi on the anniversary of his death, emphasizing that the ideals of the Father of the Nation and his focus on Swadeshi continue to steer India's path toward becoming a developed and self-sufficient country.

In a post on X, PM Modi expressed, “I extend my heartfelt salutations to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on this solemn day. The revered Bapu consistently highlighted the importance of Swadeshi, which remains a core tenet of our commitment to a prosperous and self-reliant India. His character and achievements will eternally motivate our citizens to fulfill their duties.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi, stating that the principles of the Father of the Nation will continue to resonate through the ages.

On X, Shah remarked, “I send countless greetings to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. He unified a nation fragmented by language, region, and caste, and played a crucial role in our freedom struggle. His thoughts, which intertwined swadeshi, independence, and cleanliness to envision a resplendent India, will perpetually inspire us.”

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari also honored Gandhi, sharing on X: “I offer my respectful tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his death anniversary.”

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju shared an extensive post, emphasizing Gandhi’s worldwide influence and ethical philosophy.

“On this day commemorating the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi ji, I express my humble respects to him. His life principles, rooted in truth, non-violence, and harmony, serve as a guiding beacon not just for India but for the globe in nurturing peace, ethics, and human dignity. His teachings on compassion, tolerance, and social harmony continue to lay a robust foundation for constructing a fair, inclusive, and humane society, paving the way for global peace and human welfare,” Rijiju posted.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, commonly referred to as Mahatma Gandhi, remains an unparalleled figure in India’s political narrative for his immense contributions to the freedom movement. Through his steadfast dedication to Ahimsa (non-violence) and civil disobedience, Gandhi galvanized millions and played a pivotal role in dismantling British colonial rule.

Affectionately known as Bapu, Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948. His death anniversary is marked annually as Martyr’s Day, with leaders and citizens throughout the nation honoring his lasting legacy of peace, unity, and moral fortitude.
