Hyderabad, Dec 11 (NationPress) A local court issued a non-bailable warrant against Telangana’s Endowments and Forests Minister Konda Surekha on Thursday, related to a defamation lawsuit initiated by BRS working president K T Rama Rao due to certain remarks made by the minister.
The Special Judicial First Class Magistrate (JFCM) for Excise matters issued the Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) after Konda Surekha did not appear for the scheduled hearing.
The court has set the next hearing date for February 5, 2026.
K T Rama Rao lodged a private complaint in October 2024 under Section 222, in conjunction with Section 223 of the BNS, following remarks by Konda Surekha that implicated him in the divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya.
The court acknowledged the criminal defamation complaint filed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in August this year.
It directed the police to initiate a criminal case against Konda Surekha.

Despite KTR's legal notice requesting the minister to retract her statements and apologize, she maintained her stance on her comments concerning the BRS leader.
In response, KTR commenced defamation proceedings against the Minister.
