Telangana Government to Upgrade Revenue Services for Citizens
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 25 (NationPress) Telangana's Revenue Minister, P. Srinivas Reddy, announced on Wednesday that the state government is dedicated to revitalising the revenue administration to provide efficient and citizen-centric services throughout the region.
The government plans to build permanent structures for both Tahsildar and Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) offices across Telangana, aiming for a more transparent and accessible administration for the citizens.
In the initial phase, the construction of modern facilities will commence for 60 Tahsildar offices and five RDO offices that are currently housed in rented properties.
Following this, a second phase will see the redevelopment of 170 Tahsildar and RDO offices that are currently situated in dilapidated conditions. The new buildings will be designed uniformly to enhance accessibility, operational efficiency, and public convenience.
Design plans will be finalised in consultation with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, ensuring that construction occurs in a cost-effective manner while prioritising the quality of public services.
The minister held a review meeting with senior officials from the Revenue Department at the Secretariat to discuss the status of Tahsildar and RDO offices operating from rented or inadequate structures.
This decision is in line with the Chief Minister’s vision that government facilities should operate from dignified and permanent buildings instead of temporary or leased spaces.
Minister Reddy pointed out that many revenue offices, both pre and post the formation of Telangana, have lacked proper infrastructure and have functioned from rented spaces, leading to public inconvenience.
He also condemned the previous government's approach to reorganising mandals without sufficient planning, causing some to fall under multiple district jurisdictions.
Due to insufficient infrastructure and staffing shortages in various offices, citizens have encountered significant challenges in accessing vital revenue services.
Upon taking office, the current government has allocated necessary positions for newly established mandals and has enhanced administrative frameworks to boost service delivery.
The minister also critiqued the past administration for situating several Collectorate buildings in remote areas, which hindered their effective operation.
In regard to the Stamps and Registration Department, the minister revealed that integrated office complexes with modern amenities are underway.
Within the limits of the Outer Ring Road, 39 Sub-Registrar offices in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Sangareddy districts will be consolidated into 12 clusters for the development of these new facilities.
Foundation stones have already been laid in Gachibowli, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Patancheru, with construction at the Gachibowli site nearing completion and expected to be operational soon.
