A vibrant festive spirit enveloped both states as numerous devotees flocked to temples, seeking blessings for abundance. Noteworthy prayers took place at prominent temples including Tirumala, Srisailam, Vijayawada, and Bhadrachalam.
Families engaged in special prayers, adorned their homes and shops with mango leaves, relished traditional dishes, and listened to the panchangam (almanac) to welcome the New Year.
This year, celebrated as “Sri Parabhava Nama,” Ugadi was marked by enthusiasm and cultural richness in both regions.
Special gatherings took place where scholars recounted the religious almanac for the upcoming year. The day also featured literary discussions, poetry readings, awards for authors, and various cultural activities.
The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, was the guest of honor at the main official event held at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad.
Hosted by the Telangana Departments of Language and Culture and Endowments, the event included the reading of the almanac by a Vedic scholar.
Other notable attendees included Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, and various officials and leaders from the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.
In Vijayawada, N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, took part in the principal celebrations.
Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Kandula Durgesh along with several MLAs and officials were present for the occasion.
During both main events, the chief ministers, along with other dignitaries, tasted the traditional 'Ugadi Pacchadi', a blend of neem buds, raw mango, tamarind juice, pepper, jaggery, and salt, symbolizing the diverse aspects of life.
Both leaders conveyed their wishes for prosperity and well-being in the New Year. Chief Minister Naidu emphasized that ‘Ugadi Pacchadi’ mirrors our lives, illustrating how joys and sorrows are intricately linked.
Cultural presentations highlighted the main celebrations, where state governments honored individuals for their contributions in various fields such as literature, music, arts, and social service. Chief Minister Naidu awarded the Kalaratna awards to 38 recipients and the Ugadi awards to 122 individuals.
Celebrations also took place at various political party offices, including a traditional observance at the TDP central office, where key leaders and members exchanged Ugadi greetings.
Former Chief Minister and YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy attended the celebrations at the YSRCP Central Office, dressed in traditional attire, showcasing cultural respect and Telugu heritage.
Traditional rituals were conducted, followed by Panchanga Sravanam presented by renowned scholar Pidaparthi Bhaskara Subrahmanya Sastry. After the ceremony, blessings were offered, along with teertha prasadam.
At the Congress party headquarters, Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and other leaders joined in the Ugadi festivities.
Leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), including K. T. Rama Rao and Harish Rao, also participated in the celebrations at Telangana Bhavan.
