Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 3 (NationPress) The government of Telangana is set to launch a comprehensive 99-day public outreach initiative commencing on March 6 and concluding on June 12. This program, divided into five distinct phases, aims to bring welfare schemes, development projects, and public services closer to the citizens, as confirmed by government officials on Tuesday.
This initiative, named 'Praja Palana–Pragati Pranalika' (people's governance-progress plan), will address 10 key themes spanning various departments.
Decisions regarding this program were made during a meeting between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and district Collectors on Tuesday.
The Planning Department will serve as the nodal agency for this initiative, which will include gram sabhas at the village level on April 2, followed by Mandal meetings on April 16.
Subsequent events will occur at the constituency level on May 2 and district level on May 22, culminating with celebrations for State formation day on June 2.
The themes covered will include cleanliness from village to state level, clearing backlogs in government offices, healthcare, road safety, welfare initiatives, child safety, drug control, farmers' welfare, educational advancements, youth and sports, women's issues, and environmental concerns.
Preparatory sessions will commence on March 6 with Ministers leading discussions across all former districts.
Throughout these 99 days, various development projects will either be inaugurated or their foundations will be laid.
A dedicated mobile application will be created to monitor the 99-day initiative.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy instructed officials to ensure that welfare schemes reach all eligible citizens effectively.
During the gram sabhas, officials are tasked with informing attendees about ongoing welfare programs.
Active participation from ward members, sarpanches, municipal representatives, chairpersons, Corporators, and Mayors is essential for the program's success.
To enhance the capacity of local representatives, a one-day training session will be organized at district headquarters for ward members, sarpanches, chairpersons, Corporators, and Mayors, providing clear guidance on their roles and responsibilities, along with printed resources.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of educating farmers on replacing agricultural pump sets with solar alternatives and understanding their benefits.
He urged for awareness campaigns in every village regarding rooftop solar installations, grid connectivity, and potential income from surplus energy sales.
Among the welfare initiatives to be presented in Gram and Ward Sabhas are the new ration cards, fine rice distribution, Indiramma housing, free electricity up to 200 units, loan waivers, free bus travel, and Rs 500 gas cylinder schemes.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for transparent communication regarding the total benefits accrued at village, mandal, constituency, and district levels.
He also called for the effective utilization of services from all 35 government medical colleges throughout the state.
Primary health centers, community health centers, and local health institutions should refer cases to these colleges, maximizing the use of advanced equipment, medical students, doctors, and professors for public health benefits.
Additionally, the Chief Minister mandated the implementation of facial recognition technology across all government schemes to ensure that benefits are received only by eligible individuals.
He mentioned that through the use of facial recognition in Aasara pensions, three lakh ineligible beneficiaries were removed, highlighting the importance of technology in preventing misuse.
CM Revanth Reddy has also called for the full digitization of transport department data.
Regular fitness assessments for school buses and other vehicles must be conducted, alongside eye-testing camps for drivers of the Regional Transport Corporation and goods vehicles, especially in high-traffic areas.
The Transport Department is expected to establish a WhatsApp number for reporting potholes and accident-prone areas, ensuring prompt repairs and preventive measures based on public feedback.
