Shimla, Oct 12 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in Himachal Pradesh Assembly, Jairam Thakur, raised concerns on Sunday regarding the Congress government in the state for not fulfilling its election commitments as it nears the end of its three-year term.
As notable Congress figures, including the party's Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, arrived in Shimla for the unveiling of a statue dedicated to the influential leader Virbhadra Singh, BJP's Thakur remarked, “In this context, senior Congress leaders ought to inquire about the government’s achievements and disclose to the public how many of their promises have been realized.
“Who has truly gained from these promises? Has Congress delivered on any of its commitments? The party's leadership should request and publicize data from the state government on how many youths have secured permanent jobs, how many have benefited from the Rajiv Gandhi Startup Scheme, how many women have accessed the Samman Nidhi, and how much milk has been bought from farmers at the rate of Rs 100 per kg.
Continuing his inquiry, Thakur questioned, “When apple farmers were assured of determining their prices, why are they now receiving the lowest prices in 27 years?” He urged Congress's upper echelons not to be swayed by the statistics offered by the government.
“They need to investigate the real situation. They should question why residents are not receiving treatment under Him Care. Why haven’t the Him Care funds been deposited? Why has there been no immediate assistance for those affected by disasters? Why is the Congress, which advocates for the Save the Constitution movement nationwide, depriving Himachal Pradesh residents of their constitutional rights by delaying municipal and panchayat elections?”
Thakur also challenged the Congress leadership to clarify why pensioners are protesting. What rights are they seeking? Why are their medical bills and arrears unpaid? Why is the entire state, excluding a few allies in Himachal Pradesh, enduring hardship?
He concluded by emphasizing that the Congress high command should address why the so-called government of happiness, intended to transform the system in Himachal Pradesh, is being perceived as a government of friends.
