Mumbai, Sep 3 (NationPress) Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s much-anticipated film ‘The Bengal Files’ is encountering obstacles regarding its international release.
Reports indicate that the film will not premiere in several significant overseas markets on its planned release date of September 5 due to holdups in the local censorship approval procedures.
The production team has stated that the film has yet to be approved in Mauritius, with the censor board's decision still awaited. Consequently, the film’s release in the country will be postponed until further notice.
Simultaneously, in the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, the film is under review by local censorship bodies. These regions exercise stringent regulations for content approval, especially for films that touch upon politically or socially sensitive topics. However, no formal objections have been raised as of now.
Previously, actress-producer Pallavi Joshi, who is married to Vivek, revealed that the production team faced an unfortunate tragedy midway through the pre-production phase. During a conversation with IANS at her residence while promoting the film, she shared that the production designer, Rajat Poddar, who had presented the detailed set designs for the film, passed away due to a cardiac arrest, which she noted was a significant setback for the project.
‘The Bengal Files’ is penned by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi. The cast includes Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar. This film is presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal & I Am Buddha Productions and is part of Vivek's Files trilogy, which also features ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘The Tashkent Files’.
