New Delhi, Feb 3 (NationPress) The South West District Police have apprehended two individuals involved in a series of alloy wheel thefts, thanks to a comprehensive investigation supported by CCTV footage and technical surveillance.
The suspects have been named as Ankit (37), hailing from Mohan Garden, and Ketan Tokas, both residents of New Delhi.
A press statement released on Tuesday by the South West District Police detailed that the arrests were executed by the personnel of Police Station Kishangarh. "Two determined thieves were caught through CCTV analysis and technical monitoring," the police reported, adding that "three stolen alloy wheels along with tyres, tools utilized for removing alloy wheels, and a Hyundai Aura car employed in the criminal activity were seized."
The case began with an online e-FIR (No. 80008769/26) filed on January 29, 2026, after a complaint was made by V. Kumar, a Katwaria Sarai resident, regarding the theft of an alloy wheel and tyre from his parked Hyundai Aura car. Following the FIR's registration, a specialized team was formed to investigate the incident.
The investigation team, which included Sub Inspector Dharmendra, Head Constable Yogesh, HC Ashok, Constable Sanjeev, and Ct. Dharmendra, operated under the oversight of Inspector Ajai Kumar Yadav, the SHO of Kishangarh police station, and under the guidance of ACP Safdarjung Enclave, Melvin Varghese.
The CCTV footage from the vicinity depicted "two to three suspicious individuals loitering around the complainant’s parked Hyundai Aura car" on the evening of January 28.
Further investigation led the police to identify a Hyundai Aura car as the suspect vehicle, which was later found to be registered in Ankit’s name. By employing mobile location tracking and technical surveillance, police monitored his movements through Lajpat Nagar, Mahipalpur, and Kishangarh before apprehending him along with the vehicle.
During questioning, Ankit admitted to his participation and guided police to recover three stolen alloy wheels. Based on his information, co-accused Ketan Tokas was also apprehended, and the tools used for the alloy wheel theft were confiscated.
Authorities revealed that both suspects are chronic drug users, engaging in thefts to support their addiction. With this breakthrough, three theft cases reported at the Kishangarh police station have been resolved. Ongoing investigations are in progress.
