New Delhi, Sep 26 (NationPress) In a significant operation targeting vehicle thieves, two individuals were apprehended in the Shahdara region of Delhi. The authorities have successfully confiscated eight stolen vehicles and six tampered engines from the suspects' possession.
The suspects have been identified as Ravi Kumar, aged 29, and Suresh, aged 35, according to Prashant Gautam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara.
Following a tip-off received on Wednesday regarding the transportation of stolen vehicles in a tempo, a specialized team from Shahdara District, dedicated to combating motor vehicle theft, conducted a raid at Kanti Nagar Red Light, under the jurisdiction of PS Krishna Nagar, as stated by police.
During the operation, a truck was intercepted, and upon inspection, two scooters and one motorcycle were recovered, all believed to be stolen.
The police team also took the truck driver, Suresh, into custody.
Upon interrogation, Suresh revealed the location of a warehouse where additional stolen vehicles were stored.
Acting on this information, the team arrived at A-13, Harsh Dev Park, Budh Vihar, Delhi, where they found Ravi Kumar, the warehouse owner, present.
During the search of the warehouse, police discovered one suspected stolen motorcycle, six tampered engines, and one grinder used for modifying engine/chassis numbers.
At Kumar's direction, police also raided another warehouse located at Khasra No. 44/15, Harsh Dev Park, Budh Vihar, Delhi, where four additional stolen motorcycles were seized.
Both suspects have been arrested under relevant Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. During questioning, Kumar stated that he operates as a scrap dealer and manages two warehouses in Budh Vihar Phase-3.
Kumar claimed he instructed Suresh to collect three two-wheeled vehicles from outside the MCD Parking near Karkardooma Court using the truck.
He also mentioned purchasing three vehicles from an individual named Sumit for a total of Rs 10,000. Kumar admitted to typically acquiring two-wheeler vehicles from various locations in Delhi through bidding, dismantling them, and selling their parts. Furthermore, he confessed to occasionally purchasing stolen vehicles, dismantling them, and reselling the components.
This arrest has resolved eight cases registered at PS New Ashok Nagar, PS Burari, PS Keshav Puram, PS Seemapuri, PS GTB Enclave, PS Anand Vihar, PS Kalkaji, and PS Madhu Vihar.
