Delhi Police have arrested six accused persons and recovered 15 stolen two-wheelers — comprising 11 motorcycles and four scooties — following a series of coordinated anti-theft operations across multiple police stations in the West District of New Delhi on 12 June. The drive also resolved 11 motor vehicle theft cases and led to the seizure of one illegal weapon.

Key Operations and Arrests

The crackdown was conducted by teams from Police Station Tilak Nagar, AATS/West District, PS Mayapuri, and PP Madipur/PS Punjabi Bagh, acting on technical surveillance, secret information, and field intelligence. In one of the primary operations, police nabbed Gurpreet Singh, alias Lalli, described as a notorious auto-lifter, after laying a trap near M-Block Park, Najafgarh Road. Two stolen motorcycles and one scooty were recovered from him; interrogation subsequently led to the recovery of a fourth stolen motorcycle.

In a separate operation, AATS/West District teams apprehended Md. Saddam and Suraj near ESI Metro Station Parking, Rajouri Garden, while they were travelling on a stolen Honda Activa. Their questioning led to the recovery of six additional stolen two-wheelers. Police said the two accused were allegedly supplying stolen vehicles to a 'Mewati gang', and investigation to trace the wider syndicate is underway.

CCTV Inputs Crack Mayapuri Case in Three Days

PS Mayapuri resolved a separate motorcycle theft within three days by analysing CCTV footage and technical inputs. Two accused were arrested from Rohini, leading to the recovery of four stolen motorcycles linked to cases across multiple police stations — underlining the cross-jurisdictional reach of the theft network.

Weapon Seized in Madipur Incident

Staff at Police Post Madipur apprehended Rajeev Gupta near Jheel Park after he allegedly attempted to flee. A stolen scooty and a button-actuated knife were recovered from his possession, resulting in an Arms Act case being registered alongside the vehicle theft charge.

Scale of the Crackdown

Cumulatively, the operations resulted in six arrests, recovery of 15 stolen two-wheelers, registration of one Arms Act case, and the resolution of 11 motor vehicle theft cases. West District Police described the outcome as a product of 'professional investigation, field intelligence and vigilant policing' aimed at curbing street crime. With the alleged Mewati gang link still under investigation, further arrests are expected as police work to dismantle the broader supply chain for stolen vehicles.
