Prashanth informed the police that he was summoned to the area by his friend Srinivas. He mentioned meeting Srinivas along with Ibrahim, Haneef Qureshi, and Hassanbin Mosin.
The suspects confronted him regarding his actions in exposing their illicit cattle transport operations, and during a confrontation, Ibrahim brandished a gun from his vehicle and shot Prashanth in the right side of his chest before fleeing the scene.
Investigations revealed that the motive behind the attack was two-fold: retaliation for Prashanth's role in causing approximately Rs 1 crore in losses to Ibrahim by intercepting his cattle transport vehicles, and a dispute stemming from Prashanth's alleged request for Rs 5 lakh to cease his activities.
The prompt response from the police, who transported the injured individual to the hospital using Patrol Mobile and Blue Colt officers, was instrumental in saving his life. The quick apprehension of the suspects was achieved through the formation of special teams in collaboration with all police divisions, as stated by the Police Commissioner.

The cases were registered across various police stations under the Telangana State Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
An extortion complaint was also lodged against Ibrahim in 2022 at the Kamatipura Police Station.
