Traffic Advisory Released Prior to the Funeral of Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi Today

New Delhi, Dec 28 (NationPress) A traffic advisory has been released by the Delhi Traffic Police, encouraging the public to avoid numerous significant routes in the national capital ahead of the funeral for former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, scheduled for Saturday.
The advisory details restrictions and diversions on major thoroughfares in New Delhi, recommending that individuals utilize public transport to alleviate traffic congestion.
According to the advisory, dignitaries from various foreign nations, along with other VIPs/VVIPS and the general public, are expected to gather at Nigambodh Ghat for the state funeral of the late Dr. Manmohan Singh, former PM of India, on December 28, 2024.
Notable diversion points include Raja Ram Kohli Marg, Rajghat Red Light, Signature Bridge, and Yudhister Setu.
Traffic regulations, including restrictions and diversions, may be enforced on Ring Road (Mahatma Gandhi Marg), Nishad Raj Marg, Boulevard Road, SPM Marg, Lothian Road, and Netaji Subhash Marg starting from 7 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m.
The advisory recommends that the public refrain from using the specified roads and areas surrounding the procession.
Commuters heading to Old Delhi Railway Station, ISBT, Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, and Tis Hazari Court should plan to depart early to accommodate potential delays.
Additionally, it is advised to opt for public transport to mitigate road congestion.
Vehicles must be parked in designated lots only; roadside parking is discouraged as it disrupts the normal flow of traffic.
If any unusual or suspicious objects or individuals are observed, the public is urged to report them to the police, as stated in the advisory.
The last rites for Dr. Manmohan Singh are set to be conducted at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi at noon on Saturday.

The government has declared that a state funeral will be held for Dr. Manmohan Singh, taking place at 11:45 a.m. on December 28, 2024, at Nigambodh Ghat, New Delhi. The Ministry of Defence has been asked to arrange a state funeral with full military honors, as noted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Dr. Manmohan Singh died at AIIMS, Delhi, on Thursday at the age of 92 due to medical issues related to his age.
He experienced a sudden loss of consciousness at his residence before being rushed to the hospital.
Dr. Singh had a distinguished political career spanning several decades, holding key positions such as Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, during which he implemented economic reforms that significantly transformed India's economy.
He served as the 13th Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014, following Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
His tenure is particularly noted for his steady leadership during financial crises and his contributions to the modernization of India's economy.
After his second term, Dr. Singh stepped back from public life, having guided India through a phase of extraordinary growth and global recognition.
He was succeeded by Narendra Modi in 2014 after the Congress-led UPA lost the general elections.
