Raipur, July 13 (NationPress) In a tragic incident, four young children, including a brother-sister pair, lost their lives after drowning in a pond located in Bhainstra village of Chhattisgarh's Janjgir-Champa district. This heart-wrenching event has cast a shadow of sorrow over the entire village, as the loss of such innocent lives is profoundly felt. The ages of the deceased ranged from five to eight years.

The children were identified as Pushpanjali Shrivas and her brother Tushar Shrivas, alongside Khyati Kewat and Ambika Yadav.

The unfortunate event unfolded on Saturday afternoon when the children, after returning home from school and having their meal, ventured to a nearby pond for a swim.

According to Additional SP Umesh Kashyap, when the children did not return for an extended period, their families initiated a search.

During the search, the children's clothing was discovered near the pond, prompting the family members to dive into the water.

They retrieved the children and quickly transported them to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Baloda, but tragically, doctors pronounced them dead upon arrival.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Baloda Police arrived at the hospital and arranged for the bodies to undergo a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are currently ongoing.

Kashyap confirmed that the bodies have been returned to their grieving families after the autopsy.
