Trinamool Congress Faces Internal Dissent Over Mahua Moitra; Six MLAs Address Concerns to Mamata

Kolkata, Dec 5 (NationPress) A sense of rebellion is emerging within the Trinamool Congress regarding Mahua Moitra, the party's Lok Sabha member from the Krishnanagar constituency in Nadia district, West Bengal. On Thursday, a group of six MLAs from Nadia reached out to party leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claiming that Moitra is running a 'parallel party administration' in the district, effectively ignoring the MLAs.
The six legislators also sent a copy of their letter to Trinamool Congress' state vice-president in West Bengal, Subrata Bakshi.
The MLAs who signed the letter include Bimalendu Sinha Roy from Karimpur; Rukbanur Rahman from Chapra; Kallol Khan from Nakashipara; Manik Bhattacharya from Palashipara; Ujjal Biswas from Krishnanagar-Dakshin; and Nasiruddin Ahmed from Kaliganj.
Insiders from the party revealed that the primary grievance against Moitra is her tendency to totally disregard the input of local MLAs when it comes to appointing block presidents, booth presidents, and area presidents within the district.
Additionally, they accused the Lok Sabha member of providing assurances to certain local Trinamool Congress MLAs about being nominated as party candidates for the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, potentially replacing the current legislators.
The MLAs have also raised concerns about her lack of availability during various organizational events in the district.
When approached for comments, Moitra declined to respond.
Party insiders mentioned that the six dissenting legislators initially voiced their concerns to the party leadership regarding Moitra after the ongoing Winter Session of the Assembly resumed on November 25.
Following protocol, they were advised to formalize their complaints in writing, which they did on Thursday.
