Mamata Announces District-Level Meeting to Address Complaints Against Mahua Moitra

Kolkata, Dec 9 (NationPress) West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee clarified on Monday that a resolution concerning the complaints filed against the party MP from Krishnanagar, Mahua Moitra, by six party legislators will be addressed at an upcoming district-level organizational meeting in Nadia.
Last week, six Trinamool legislators from the Nadia district submitted a formal complaint to Banerjee and the party’s state President, Subrata Bakshi, alleging that Moitra has been operating a “parallel party administration” in the district, effectively sidelining the MLAs.
During the recess of the tenth day of the ongoing Winter Session of the Assembly on Monday, five of the six legislators met with the Chief Minister to discuss the matter.
According to sources, Banerjee explicitly informed the legislators that any conclusions regarding the situation would be made at the district-level organizational meeting.
Political analysts suggest that Banerjee's response indicates a cautious approach, implying she intends to take her time before reaching a decision.
The six legislators from Nadia district who signed the complaint include Bimalendu Sinha Roy from Karimpur, Rukbanur Rahman from Chapra, Kallol Khan from Nakashipara, Manik Bhattacharya from Palashipara, Ujjal Biswas from Krishnanagar-Dakshin, and Nasiruddin Ahmed from Kaliganj.
Insiders suggest that the primary concern raised by these six legislators is that Moitra is “completely ignoring the views of local MLAs” when it comes to replacing Block Presidents, Booth Presidents, and Area Presidents in the district. They have also accused the Lok Sabha member of promising certain local Trinamool leaders nominations as party candidates for the 2026 Assembly elections, thereby displacing current legislators. Additional grievances include her absence from various organizational events in the district.
