Kolkata, Jan 28 (NationPress) A significant organisational meeting of the Trinamool Congress is planned for next month in Kolkata to devise the party's approach for the important West Bengal Assembly elections in 2026.
According to sources, this meeting is expected to take place on either February 26 or February 27 at Netaji Indoor Stadium located in central Kolkata. The session will be led by the party’s national president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“Typically, such a meeting is held in the first quarter of each year, but this particular gathering holds added importance due to the upcoming Assembly elections next year,” stated a member of the state cabinet.
He further noted that during the meeting, the Chief Minister may present a strategy to counter the negative campaigning from opposition parties, along with plans to engage with the public by emphasizing various social welfare initiatives initiated by the state government.
Political analysts believe that this extended organisational meeting is especially vital since a much-discussed organisational overhaul within Trinamool Congress is anticipated during the same month.
In future internal meetings, party insiders indicated that the Chief Minister has asserted that she will maintain the ultimate authority over all internal party issues and organisational choices for at least the next decade.
Her final decision regarding the proposed organisational changes will also be decisive.
“The Chief Minister’s unequivocal message about being the final authority on party organisational matters aims to resolve the ongoing internal discussions within Trinamool Congress between the veterans and newer members,” remarked political observers.
