Kolkata, April 12 (NationPress) The Trinamool Congress is set to initiate a thorough examination and validation of the voters' list in West Bengal this month, an endeavor that will persist for a year.

According to party insiders, the review and validation process is scheduled to commence right after the Bengali New Year festivities on April 15 and will extend until April of the following year.

The significant state Assembly elections in West Bengal are slated to occur shortly after the completion of the voters' list review and validation process. This initiative will be carried out in collaboration with the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC).

“The essential training for party members tasked with conducting door-to-door review and validation of the voters' list is nearing completion. Should additional party members be needed for the review and validation process later on, they will receive training as well,” stated a senior party official.

The training sessions are being facilitated by experts from I-PAC in the relevant field. Data gathered during the door-to-door review and validation will be uploaded to a central database, accessible to the party's senior leadership whenever needed.

It has been revealed that the party has established four-tiered review and validation teams. These levels include panchayat-level electoral supervisors and block-level electoral supervisors for rural regions, as well as ward-level and town-level electoral supervisors for urban areas.

During an organizational meeting in Kolkata in February, Trinamool Congress president and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee instructed a comprehensive review and validation of the voters' list, anticipating that voters from other states might be registered in the voters' list for West Bengal.

A committee was formed under the leadership of the state Trinamool Congress president, Subrata Bakshi, to oversee the entire procedure.

The Trinamool Congress has been asserting that voters from various states share the same Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number.

Last month, a delegation of Trinamool Congress MPs urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure a “Unique ID” for EPIC cards, akin to AADHAAR cards and passports.
