Kolkata, Oct 4 (NationPress) As the West Bengal Assembly elections approach in 2026, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is set to initiate a week-long outreach initiative across the state, commencing from October 5 to 12. This programme will feature block-level Vijaya Sammilani (post-Durga Puja gatherings) throughout Bengal.
The outreach efforts are designed to strengthen the party's bond with the community during this festive period.
Sources within the Trinamool Congress reveal that General Secretary and Lok Sabha member, Abhishek Banerjee, has informed party leaders about this initiative, urging them to actively engage.
It is reported that over 50 prominent leaders from the party, including MPs, MLAs, state ministers, and student representatives, will participate in the Vijaya Sammilani events across every block. They will be visiting various locations for outreach and will engage with citizens to understand their concerns regarding the state administration.
The party's leader and West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, is aiming for a fourth term in the upcoming assembly elections.
“The leadership of the Trinamool is determined to seize every opportunity to connect with the populace during this time. Through the Vijaya Sammilani events, the ruling party plans to once more spotlight the negligence faced by the state from the Central government, the issues faced by Bengali workers nationally—especially in BJP-governed regions—and simultaneously showcase the accomplishments of Mamata Banerjee's administration over the past 15 years,” stated a senior party official.
Notably, Abhishek Banerjee had a discussion with the district leadership of Trinamool before Durga Puja, where he encouraged party members to connect with the public.
He instructed them to engage more actively in areas where the Trinamool Congress has a weaker presence. The Vijaya Sammilani is seen as a new strategy for the party to broaden its outreach ahead of the elections.
Additionally, Mamata Banerjee is anticipated to participate in similar events in Kolkata, including special discussions with business leaders.
