Agartala, July 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, emphasized on Friday that it is essential to foster nationalism in students, encouraging their participation in various social activities.
He remarked that students should not focus solely on building a career; instead, they should engage in a variety of constructive and social initiatives.
“I have noticed a lack of students excelling in both board and university exams while actively participating in social and innovative endeavors,” he stated during the launch of the ‘Tripura School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework-TSQAAF’.
Holding the Education portfolio, Saha explained that this assessment (TSQAAF) would evaluate the quality of education in schools, providing them with rankings based on their performance. In a post on X, he expressed, “Education goes beyond merely obtaining formal certificates; it plays a crucial role in instilling moral values in life.” He highlighted that Tripura has taken significant measures to implement the National Education Policy and that the School Education Department is diligently working to cultivate a healthy, competitive atmosphere, transforming each school into a center of excellence.
“Similar to how NAAC-accredited higher education institutions function under quality standards, we are launching the Tripura School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (TSQAAF) for schools,” he added.
According to the NEP-2020, the monitoring of studies will significantly enhance the performance of both students and teachers. The Chief Minister urged teachers to go beyond the prescribed syllabus and inspire students to engage in positive activities. He noted that on June 23, Tripura became the third state in India to achieve full literacy, following Goa and Mizoram.
“With the successful implementation of the ‘ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) – New India Literacy Programme', Tripura's literacy rate has soared to 95.6%,” Saha reported. He expressed pride in Tripura’s recognition as a fully literate state, a significant achievement for its residents.
Senior officials from the Education Department revealed that the dropout rate across all levels of school education in the state is below the national average.
