Agartala, April 2 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, emphasized on Wednesday that the advancements in communication systems have significantly enhanced the potential for investment. Thus, there should be a greater focus on promoting the northeastern states to attract investors.

The Chief Minister highlighted the necessity of drawing investors to establish industries based on rubber, agar, pineapple, and bamboo in Tripura.

During a preparatory meeting of the high-level task force from the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (MDoNER), he stated that every department must implement a strategic plan, emphasizing the state government's commitment to enhancing the ease of doing business through initiatives like land reforms to facilitate investors.

According to the Chief Minister, there is immense potential for investment in the state’s tourism sector, calling for increased promotion and expansion in this area.

Moreover, all investment opportunities within the state should be highlighted to potential investors.

Recently, the Tripura government has entered into MoUs with various industrialists and investors. While these agreements are significant, he stressed the need for their effective implementation.

Present at the meeting were Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Secretary of the Good Governance Department Kiran Gitte, and other departmental secretaries.

It is noteworthy that the formation of this high-level task force was decided during the 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) held in Agartala on December 21 of the previous year, with the Tripura Chief Minister serving as its convener.

The task force aims to devise a roadmap to promote investment in the northeastern region, which will be submitted to the relevant ministry.

This roadmap will cover aspects such as investment across northeastern states, infrastructure evaluation, positioning the northeastern region as a prime investment hub for sectors like agriculture, tourism, logistics, IT, and renewable energy, with an emphasis on the Private-Public-Partnership model.

Consequently, the DoNER Ministry has established a task force with Saha as its convener, alongside DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Chief Ministers Conrad K. Sangma (Meghalaya), Neiphiu Rio (Nagaland), and Prem Singh Tamang (Sikkim) as members.
