Agartala, April 21 (NationPress) A significant achievement for Tripura, Gomati district along with Ganganagar block from Dhalai District has been honored with the esteemed PM Excellence Award 2024, as announced by Chief Minister Manik Saha.
During the announcement, the Chief Minister highlighted that Gomati district was recognized under the Holistic Development of Districts category for the Prime Minister's Excellence Award 2024.
He pointed out that only five districts were chosen nationwide through a comprehensive evaluation process that involved several stages, including site inspections and presentations.
“The Government of India approved the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration, 2024 across three categories. In the first category, which focuses on Holistic Development of Districts under 11 priority sector programs, only five awards were granted, with Gomati District being one of the distinguished recipients,” stated Saha.
In a post on his X account, the Chief Minister expressed, “Gomati district shines bright! Heartfelt congratulations to the people of Gomati district and District Magistrate and Collector Tarit Kanti Chakma for receiving the prestigious PM Excellence Award 2024 for 'Holistic Development of Districts'! This accolade signifies the district's exceptional progress and steadfast commitment to excellence.”
He added, “It’s a source of pride that Ganganagar, an aspirational block in Tripura's Dhalai district, has been honored with the PM Excellence Award 2024.”
The Chief Minister congratulated the residents of Ganganagar block and Saju Wahid A, District Magistrate and Collector of Dhalai district, who accepted the award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Civil Services Day ceremony in New Delhi on Monday.
“This recognition exemplifies the state government's dedication to advancing the region and highlights the block's commitment to excellence,” he remarked.
The awards' evaluation involved a rigorous process, including the short-listing of districts and organizations by a Screening Committee led by Additional Secretaries, assessments by an Expert Committee headed by the Secretary of DARPG (Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances), and final recommendations from an Empowered Committee chaired by the Cabinet Secretary of the Government of India.
Within the Holistic Development category, the award scheme acknowledges the performance of District Collectors through targeted service delivery to individual beneficiaries, employing a saturation strategy.
The evaluations focused on three core parameters - Good Governance, Qualitative, and Quantitative outcomes. Gomati District received the PM Excellence Award, which includes a Trophy, a Scroll, and a financial incentive of Rs 20 lakh, intended for the implementation of projects and programs or addressing resource gaps in areas of public welfare.
