New Delhi, Oct 18 (NationPress) Tripura has made remarkable strides in tribal development by receiving several prestigious accolades at the National Conclave on Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan (AKA), officials reported on Saturday.
A senior representative from the Tripura Tribal Welfare Department noted that the state was awarded two esteemed national honors: best performing state in the execution of PM-JANMAN and best performing state in the execution of Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA).
Additionally, North Tripura district was named the best performing district under PM-JANMAN, while Gomati District received recognition for its outstanding achievements in both AKA and DAJA. The Unakoti and Dhalai Districts were also celebrated for their exemplary contributions under DAJA.
The official remarked that these awards signify the unwavering dedication of the Tripura government towards inclusive tribal development and grassroots empowerment. Under PM-JANMAN, the state has successfully completed the construction of 15,584 houses, with an additional 1,632 currently underway; launched 141 new Anganwadi Centres; and provided functional tap water connections to 38,014 PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups) households.
Furthermore, the program has electrified 11,692 households through grid connectivity and 1,051 via solar grids; established 10 mobile network towers; and initiated 18 multipurpose centres with 32 more in development. The formation and operationalization of 30 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras and the construction of 67 roads spanning 205 kilometres have also taken place.
The Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, launched on June 15, 2025, as part of the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, stands as India’s largest tribal empowerment initiative, as stated by the official.
Tripura’s saturation camp model has proven particularly effective, with 4,036 camps attracting over 12.7 lakh participants. The campaign has addressed essential needs such as identity documentation, financial inclusion, health coverage, and access to social welfare benefits.
The official mentioned that to maintain district-level momentum, Chief Minister Manik Saha has assigned one Minister as Prabhari for each district to ensure coordinated and responsive implementation.
The Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan (AKA), conceived under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, signifies a transformative change in tribal governance. Rooted in the principles of ‘Sewa, Samarpan, and Sankalp’, the initiative empowers communities across 392 tribal-dominated revenue villages in Tripura to collaborate on their development plans.
This initiative marks a shift from scheme delivery to citizen-driven planning, fostering a collaborative governance model between citizens, institutions, and the state. Tripura’s accomplishments at the National Conclave exemplify the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister along with the collective efforts of senior officials, District Magistrates, and field-level workers.
During the National Conclave on Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan, held on Friday at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards. Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and MoS Durgadas Uikey were also in attendance. Tribals from 19 distinct communities make up one-third of Tripura’s population, which exceeds four million.
