New Delhi, Nov 18 (NationPress) England manager Thomas Tuchel has announced his intention to connect with players who have recently been excluded from the national team, detailing how they can re-enter his considerations as the World Cup approaches.
Several prominent players, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold from Real Madrid and Jack Grealish from Everton, were not included in the squad for the recent qualifiers against Serbia and Albania. Notably, Jude Bellingham was also absent from the October matches against Wales and Latvia.
England achieved a convincing 2–0 victory over Serbia at home, followed by another 2–0 win against Albania on Sunday, successfully completing a flawless qualifying campaign with eight wins and no goals conceded to lead Group K.
"First and foremost, it’s my responsibility to reach out to players, including Trent," Tuchel stated to journalists following the win over Albania. "I need to connect with those on our extended list of 55 to 60 players, clarify why they weren't selected, and provide guidance on how they can enhance their performance and possibly return to the squad.
"I will explain what they need to focus on and whether improvements can be made or if their absence was merely a decision. This is my task in the coming weeks and months."
Tuchel expressed his willingness to visit club training grounds for group discussions with players, emphasizing the importance of face-to-face interactions to gauge their responses effectively.
"We can organize group visits. We can meet with Jude and Trent at their clubs and reach out to others via calls," the 52-year-old added.
England is scheduled for another training camp during the March international window, leading up to the finalization of Tuchel's World Cup squad. The tournament is set to take place from June 11 to July 19 in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
