New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) The prominent ride-hailing company Uber has introduced a new service named ‘Uber for Teens’ in India, aimed at providing secure and trustworthy transportation solutions for teenagers aged 13 to 17 years. This service is now available in 37 cities across the nation, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kolkata.
The service is built around a robust set of safety measures, featuring GPS tracking, real-time ride tracking, and an in-app emergency button. “These features are implemented to ensure that both teens and their parents experience safety while utilizing the service,” the company stated.
One significant aspect of ‘Uber for Teens’ is its ability to provide parents with the ability to oversee their children’s rides.
Parents can set up a Teens account, enabling them to request rides for their teens, monitor the rides live, and receive comprehensive ride summaries post-journey.
This feature enhances security, allowing parents to keep track of their teens' travels.
“We acknowledge the distinct transportation challenges that teenagers and their families encounter in India. With Uber for Teens, we aim to tackle these issues by delivering a service that parents can rely on, while also appealing to teens as a convenient and trendy option,” said Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia.
Furthermore, a recent survey by Uber showed that 92 percent of parents have struggled to find reliable transport for their teens to participate in activities.
Safety was the primary concern for 72 percent of parents regarding transport choices for their children.
The survey also indicated that many parents frequently resorted to using their own vehicles to transport their teens to extracurricular activities or coaching sessions.
In detail, 63 percent of parents reported using their own cars for sports or extracurricular activities, while 61 percent did so for after-school coaching.
