Did Congress Leader Udit Raj Respond to Sadhvi Pragya's Remarks on Rahul Gandhi?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 23 (NationPress) Congress leader Udit Raj has made a significant rebuttal against BJP leader and ex-MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur concerning her divisive remarks about Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. He criticized her statements as being contrary to both Indian and Hindu traditions and even questioned her own lineage.
In response to Sadhvi Pragya’s controversial comments, Udit Raj stated, “First and foremost, she is acting against the essence of Indian tradition and Hindu culture as well, because Rahul Gandhi is the offspring of Indian-born Rajiv Gandhi. In India's paternal lineage tradition, the lineage is derived from the father.” He insisted that challenging Rahul Gandhi’s qualifications based on his mother’s background is both culturally inappropriate and politically motivated.
Intensifying his criticism, the Congress leader made a bold remark directed at Sadhvi Pragya. “Moreover, Pragya Thakur ought to consider a DNA test—who knows, her ancestry might trace back to Eurasia. If her DNA analysis is conducted, it may reveal that she is not originally from here,” Udit Raj stated, igniting a new political controversy.
This intense exchange follows Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur's earlier statement, which suggested that a son of a foreign woman is unfit to lead the nation, a comment widely interpreted as aimed at Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking to IANS, Sadhvi Pragya remarked, “In our society and nation, what can I say? Chanakya, a renowned thinker, expressed something that cannot be denied. He stated that the son of a foreign woman cannot be qualified to rule.”
She further justified her statement by asserting that true leadership and patriotism stem from lineage. “A genuine patriot, one capable of governance, must inherently belong to our own lineage. Thus, this assertion should not be dismissed nor should it be disregarded for future generations. That is its essence,” she elaborated.
Sadhvi Pragya also criticized the Congress party, alleging it lacks ideological coherence. “Congress members have no guiding ideology. They are facing the consequences of their actions and the past. Hence, I assert that their words lack credibility,” she conveyed to IANS.
Udit Raj’s response underscores the Congress party's robust defense against what it perceives as personal and divisive attacks on its leadership. Congress officials have consistently accused the BJP of diverting attention from governance issues by resorting to personal insults and identity politics.
