New Delhi, Oct 3 (NationPress) Congress leader Udit Raj's scathing remark directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi has prompted a fierce backlash from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP accused the historic party of exhibiting a "disdain" towards Lord Ram while showing admiration for Mughal conquerors like Babur.

Expressing strong disapproval of the "modern Ravana" comment aimed at PM Modi, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi stated that the Congress party is increasingly becoming a tool for anti-national elements, and even the learned members of Congress are unable to halt this downward trend.

During a press conference at the party's headquarters, Trivedi criticized Congress for its "double standards". He highlighted that this is the same party that was responsible for the deaths of Ram devotees during the Ayodhya movement and chose to skip the 'Pran Pratistha' ceremony for the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, while the Gandhi family has consistently honored Mughal leader Babur's grave.

“Jawaharlal Nehru visited Babur's tomb in 1959, Indira Gandhi in 1969, and both ex-PM Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi visited in 2005. The citizens of the nation can easily discern who supports the demon king and who embraces the rich cultural heritage of Lord Ram,” the BJP spokesperson remarked.

Earlier, Udit Raj had taken a jab at PM Modi by labeling him a "modern Ravana" and stated, "The manner in which he is constructing his golden palace, once he enters it, he will witness the same golden palace engulfed in flames."

In response, Sudhanshu Trivedi noted that the current Congress leadership seems lost and bewildered, while its rational voices remain muted.

“This indicates that Congress is falling into the grasp of external forces with an anti-national agenda. Many knowledgeable Congress leaders who are quietly observing from the sidelines must step in to rectify this decline. This issue should concern not only the party but the entire nation,” he added.

Several other BJP leaders also criticized the Congress party for the inappropriate analogy. Shehzad Poonawala shared Udit Raj's video, questioning whether this reflected the essence of 'Mohabbat ki dukaan' or was merely another derogatory remark against the Prime Minister.

“Just yesterday, a Congress MLA from Telangana insulted Prabhu Ram, and today Udit Raj has crossed the line,” he commented.
