New Delhi, Oct 3 (NationPress) Congress leader Udit Raj has issued a sharp critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s economic and governance strategies, alleging that his policies have undermined India's manufacturing industry and heightened the country's reliance on imports, especially from China. Supporting the remarks of Sanjay Raut, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, who stated it was "time to burn Delhi's Raavans," Udit Raj expressed in a post on X that "PM Modi symbolizes the modern Ravana, and the manner in which he is constructing his golden palace will ultimately lead to its downfall."
In an interview with IANS, Udit Raj backed the sentiments expressed by Sanjay Raut during a passionate speech at a Dussehra rally in Mumbai on October 2, where Raut called for a shift in political power at the Centre.
Raut was quoted saying, “It is time to burn Delhi's Raavan,” targeting the Central government and accusing it of attaining power through "vote theft."
Udit Raj affirmed that the message was both relevant and timely.
“It is absolutely accurate to state that modern-day Ravana PM Modi’s policies have diminished our production, rendering us significantly reliant on China,” Udit Raj remarked. “What Rahul Gandhi articulated about ‘Vocal for Local’ holds true. Manufacturing has declined in Europe, America, and India; however, while America and Europe may withstand this better, India cannot.”
He further contended that under the current administration, India’s self-sufficiency has been gravely compromised.
“Our reliance on foreign nations for goods, commodities, and essentials has escalated sharply, and our manufacturing sector has experienced a significant downturn, which necessitates immediate revitalization,” he stated.
The Congress leader also criticized the Prime Minister’s perceived inaccessibility to the public and lawmakers, contrasting it with the approach of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
“Currently, instead of engaging with the public, PM Modi dedicates years to traveling abroad with officials, closing off avenues for public interaction. Whether he is overseas or on election campaigns, he is seldom available as Prime Minister for citizens,” Udit Raj noted.
“During Dr. Manmohan Singh's tenure, I was able to meet him multiple times, even on subjects like reservations, despite not holding a significant position. That system of accessibility has disappeared. The PMO is no longer approachable by the public,” he added.
