Srinagar, Aug 12 (NationPress) A well-attended Tiranga Rally led by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took place on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar to honor the spirit of unity as the nation approaches Independence Day celebrations.
The office of the L-G highlighted Manoj Sinha's remarks on X, stating, “We launched the Tiranga Yatra from Dal Lake, with thousands of participants proudly uniting to pay homage to our national flag, which represents our shared identity, pride, and unity. We honored those courageous souls who sacrificed their lives to ensure the Tricolour remains a symbol of glory.”
“This day is about celebrating the achievements of our great nation, yet we must also reflect on our responsibilities and strive to enhance our successes. We must commit to building a modern and prosperous J&K, grounded in the sacrifices made by our Army, CAPFs, and Police. Tiranga is my duty. Tiranga is my strength. Tiranga is my essence. For our obligations, may we continuously be reborn on this sacred land!” the L-G elaborated.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, attending the rally, remarked that the Tricolour was previously hoisted solely on government buildings, but now everyone participates.
The chief minister's office shared on X, “During the Tiranga rally, our Chief Minister emphasized the National Flag’s message of unity, peace, and harmony. He mentioned that the Tiranga symbolizes India’s strength through diversity, urging everyone to uphold its principles of secularism and brotherhood.”
CM Abdullah stated, “In the past, the national flag was restricted to government properties. One individual took the initiative to change this. What inspired him? He studied in the US, observing peers displaying their national flags in their rooms, but he couldn't do the same. He returned, fought for change, approached the courts, and succeeded in allowing flag hoisting at home. The essence is that anyone can drive change independently. We must honor the national flag; it represents our identity and deserves our respect.”
Hundreds of attendees, including J&K government ministers, senior civil and police officers, school children, athletes, notable citizens, and, most importantly, everyday Kashmiris, gathered in significant numbers for the Tiranga Rally, contributing to national integration and unity, which is the heartbeat of our nation, transcending regions, religions, languages, and ethnicities.
Security measures were meticulously arranged to ensure that every citizen felt at ease while participating in this momentous occasion.
Every participant waved the national flag, and balloons adorned with national flags ascended from the shores of Dal Lake, where the rally occurred.
The event concluded with boat shows, cultural performances, and various activities, leaving participants smiling and igniting a renewed commitment in their hearts, making every Indian a proud citizen of the world's largest democracy.
