Lucknow, Jan 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, on Sunday, allocated Rs 2,000 crore directly into the bank accounts of 2 lakh beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (2.0). This initiative is a key program by the Central government aimed at supporting lower-income households in constructing their own homes.

During an event in Lucknow, dedicated to the distribution of funds via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the Chief Minister initiated the transfer by pressing a digital button and extended his congratulations to all families who received their first installment of the PMAY on that day.

“Over 2 lakh families in Uttar Pradesh are benefitting from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban 2.0). When cleanliness became part of our lives, we noticed a decline in various diseases. The government has eradicated the mafia, while you have eliminated the dirt. Uttar Pradesh is advancing rapidly — this marks the beginning of transformative change,” CM Yogi expressed to the audience.

State government statistics reveal that approximately 2,09,421 families received direct assistance under the PMAY (Urban 2.0), enabling them to construct their own homes.

The Chief Minister emphasized his administration’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities, stating that when competent governments take charge, they provide citizens with essential amenities through proactive governance.

“For the first time, street vendors are also reaping benefits from the PM SVANidhi scheme. Housing provisions are being guaranteed for every individual in need,” he mentioned.

He pointed out that issues concerning ‘roti, kapda aur makaan’ have plagued society for decades, and it was only under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that these basic necessities have become accessible to the general public through welfare initiatives.

He added that over 60 lakh families have already benefited from the PMAY scheme in Uttar Pradesh, and today, 2 lakh families are being included in this social welfare framework.

“In the last nearly nine years, we have enabled over 60 lakh beneficiaries in both rural and urban territories of Uttar Pradesh to avail benefits from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and today an additional 2 lakh people are being incorporated. The total now stands at 62 lakh,” he stated.

“For the first time since independence, 62 lakh beneficiaries are enjoying housing benefits, and this success is credited to PM Modi's vision and leadership,” he concluded.
