This emerging trend is gaining momentum among the state's youth, leading to a marked increase in their involvement in modern industries. The ‘CM Yuva’ initiative is fueling this shift, resulting in the establishment of numerous innovation-oriented start-ups throughout Uttar Pradesh, where young people seize the chance to become ‘job creators’.
An official report indicates that over 10,000 innovative businesses have been launched under the ‘CM Yuva’ initiative, showcasing a swift increase in entrepreneurial spirit among the youth. They are stepping away from conventional businesses and making their presence felt in contemporary and emerging fields.
As highlighted by Sarveshwar Shukla, the Nodal Officer of ‘CM Yuva’ and Joint Commissioner of Industries, programs like ‘CM Yuva’ not only broaden employment prospects but also play a pivotal role in achieving the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Providing insights into this unique initiative, he remarked, "Of the total enterprises created thus far under the scheme, 10 percent are based on innovative concepts. In alignment with the Chief Minister's vision, we aim to elevate this figure to 25 percent in the current financial year 2026-27."
Sector-specific data reveals that food and restaurant ventures have emerged as the most popular choice among the youth, with a total of 763 businesses established. Other sectors witnessing active participation include computer training (370 businesses), pathology sampling (260), fast food (253), franchise models (253), and online education (189).
Emerging sectors such as gyms (170 businesses), mobile IT and digital platforms (120), travel and tourism (117), and cloud kitchens (117) are also experiencing rapid growth.
Lucknow leads this trend with 287 enterprises, closely followed by Azamgarh (286) and Hardoi (262). Other notable districts include Jaunpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Kanpur, Varanasi, Raebareli, Bareilly, and Firozabad. This initiative has charted a new course for the start-up culture in the state.
Banks have played a crucial role in bolstering the start-up ecosystem. The Uttar Pradesh Gramin Bank has provided funding for the highest number of innovative models, with a total of 2,133 loans granted. Other significant contributors include the State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, among others.
